SUMMARY OF THE FIRST MEETING IN POLAND

Third Comenius Meeting in Sosnowiec, Poland 9-13 May 2011

From 9th to 13th May our school-Primary School no 33 in Sosnowiec- hosted the Comenius partners from Turkey and Spain. It was the third meeting of the project” ALL OF US ARE PART OF THE SAME GAME”.

9^th May

Arrival of Spanish and Turkish teachers.

10^th May

Guests from Spain and Turkey were welcomed with bread and salt. After that they went to the gym to watch performances prepared by our students. Firstly, the Turkish and Spanish teachers as well as our students, parents and teachers saw the film about project activities. Children presented 4 national and regional dances and staged the play “The world is our playground” in English. After the performances the guests toured the school and learned some facts about Polish educational system. They had the opportunity to taste some polish sweets that were prepared by both teachers and parents. In the afternoon we worked on the project. During the project meeting we made some arrangements connected with the website. Additionally we decided to create a blog of the project. We discussed the tasks that had been done during the first year and what should be done until the next visit to Poland. Everybody presented the first draft of the album about traditional children’s games. After the work on the project, our guests were invited for supper prepared by teachers from our school.

11^th May

That day we went for a trip to Cracow to show our guests a bit of Polish history and famous places in that city. The guests visited the Wawel Castle, went on a boat trip on Vistula River, sight saw the old district Kazimierz, and the church of Saint Peter and Paul. After that we went to the main square and they had the opportunity to buy some polish souvenirs in Sukiennice. Tired but inspired we came back to Sosnowiec. J)

12^th May

Together with our guests we went to the Town Hall and had a meeting with the vice- president of Sosnowiec Miss/Mrs. Agnieszka Czechowska. She gave us a tour of the city hall and later discussed the roles of particular departments. At the end the guests were given albums about the city Sosnowiec. After the meeting we took the guests for a walk along the streets of Sosnowiec. We visited the Cathedral. After sightseeing Sosnowiec, we continued working on the project. The Spanish teachers created the blog and presented it to the Turkish and Polish teachers. We decided what information should be put on this blog. In the afternoon we had a farewell dinner in the restaurant with all the teachers from our school.

13^th May

Departure of Spanish teachers early in the morning. The Turkish teachers stayed at our school until 16.00. Some of our students gave the guests the tour of the district. Besides, the guests spend some time in the common room observing students playing . We showed them the school chronicle and explained the school tradition and the most important events and activities that took place during the last year. Before their departure the teachers ate dinner in our school canteen.
